Delware State CDL Requirements:
In order to drive heavy vehicle or combination vehicle in Delaware, you need to have Commercial Driver’s License from Delaware state department of DMV. There are three license classes available to drive a vehicle:
Class A License: In order to drive a vehicle weighing greater than 26,001 pounds with towing weighing more than 10,000 you need to have class A drivers license.
Class B License: To drive a vehicle weighing more than 26,001 pounds with towing less than 10,000 pounds, you will need Class B driver’s license.
Class C License: To drive vehicle weighing more than 26,001 pounds, you will need Class C driver’s license.
To become eligible for Delaware CDL license, you must be at least 18 years old, have an excellent vision and be in good health. You must also have to obtain medical certificate from concerned authority. You are required to pass CDL General knowledge exam, road skills test and on-road driving test. If you want to obtain class, A drivers license, you have to perform on-road driving test in the same vehicle falling in the particular category.
In order to drive vehicle with particular requirements, you need to pass the specific endorsements. For example, in order to drive vehicle with Air brakes, you need to pass the CDL Air Brakes exam. To transport hazardous materials, you must pass the CDL hazardous materials endorsement test.
